  1. What Is It?
A mechanical edit is a thorough edit where the editor reads every line of the provided document. The editor will fix the following types of issues: • Typos. • Missing words. • Common errors (their vs. there vs. they’re). • Passive voice. • Tense issues. • Subject/verb agreement. • Formatting inconsistencies.
  2. What's Included?
When you order a mechanical edit, you will receive the fully edited Word document. Every change will be made with Track Changes on. This gives you, as the author, final say about what changes stay or go. MACE Writing edits according to the 𝘊𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘨𝘰 𝘔𝘢𝘯𝘶𝘢𝘭 𝘰𝘧 𝘚𝘵𝘺𝘭𝘦 and 𝘔𝘦𝘳𝘳𝘪𝘢𝘮-𝘞𝘦𝘣𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳.
  3. Not Included?
With a mechanical edit, you will not receive a final report explaining the grammatical rules applied or offering stylistic advice. (For this, please see our educational edit service.) This level of edit will also not include more pervasive or subjective advice, such as guidance on plot development, tone, or characterization. MACE Writing does not provide advice or guidance regarding publishing after the edit is complete.
  4. Benefits?
No matter what you're having edited, whether it's a full-length novel or a business report, having an error-free document avoids distracting typos, builds confidence in the reading audience about your authority, and offers a polished end product. Our editing team has the experience and expertise to both apply style guides and to take into account personal editing-related requests.
  5. Price?
A mechanical edit is charged at an hourly rate of $50.
